One of the big surprises at this week's Sony E3 press conference was the announcement that PlayStation console owners would be able to share Far Cry 4 for multiplayer co-op with friends who don't own the game. How's it's going to work? Well, for starters, it sounds like you're going to need a lot of space on your hard drive.
Your PS4 Friends Don't Need Far Cry 4 to Play Far Cry 4
Sony VP Adam Boyes just announced that PS4 players will be able to invite friends into a game of…

Co-op game-sharing will be a PlayStation-exclusive feature. Reports from Eurogamerand Gamespot details the steps that PS3 & PS4 owners will take to invite their friends to the Himalayas. If you've got a PlayStation Plus subscription, you'll get ten invites to pass out when Far Cry 4 hits retail. The experience is referred to as a 'trial' in the Gamespot write-up:
We're going to be generous. We want you to basically download the game, jump in your buddy's game, play as Hurk, play for a couple hours, run around, experience the entirety of the world, take over some outposts, take over some fortress, understand what it's like to be able to wingsuit, to be able to climb on top of the elephants, to be able to get a whole bunch of new vehicles and weapons, and effectively play the game.'

Eurogamer's reporting says that players being invited in multiplayer co-op will need to have a big standalone app installed on their consoles. That elephant-sized client will reportedly contain all of the game's content except the single-player portions. Kotaku has reached out to Ubisoft for clarification and will update this story once they respond.
Update: Here's Ubisoft's official statement on how Far Cry 4's game-sharing co-op will work.
The 'sender' will receive ten 'Keys to Kyrat' which he can send to ten PSN 'friends' of his choice. The 'friend' will receive a single unique key allowing him to download a PSN exclusive trial version of the game allowing co-op play in the open world with the 'sender' for a limited amount of time. XP, loot, etc that the 'friend' earns will then carry over if they buy the game.
A second player can be added to your game at any time to play as the free-spirited Hurk, who appears briefly in the game to essentially say “you can play co-op now!” before going back into the shadows. This player brings with them all of the skills and equipment they’ve unlocked in their game, and gets to take back with them any experience, guns, skills, ammo, and cash they earn along the way. What’s excluded from that list is any sort of progress within the game, i.e., towers liberated, outposts conquered, or collectibles gathered. Any such progress is only saved to the host’s account, so the second player would have to liberate or collect all those in his or her own game. There’s the potential for the second player to bring back with him or her guns he or she hasn’t unlocked yet, but that’s not the reason he or she is there. The second player is there because (ideally) you both feel like playing around in an open-world FPS sandbox.
It took me a bit of time to wrap my head around Far Cry 4’s co-op mode. When a player joins your game, the main campaign missions become locked out. However, the rest of the world is still open. You can still liberate towers and outposts, take on side missions, go hunting, engage in the random events that show up, and generally cause havoc. There are no special co-op missions upon which to embark or new areas you’re able to reach. I’m so used to inviting friends to a game in order to achieve something that having someone join up to just goof around felt strange. There was no objective or set “thing” we had to do. We could go climb up that bell tower and have a look around. We could just as easily hop into a mini-helicopter, ascend as high as possible above a group of enemies, and then jump out while throwing grenades at the ground. Pointless? Sure. But way more fun.

Regrettably, it feels like that attitude is only shared among friends. Given the way the co-op is setup, and perhaps even because of the penalty that any kind of connection issues tosses both players back to the main menu, joining a random person’s game is almost impossible. In the ten attempts I made to join a random game, only one of them was successful. Most of them I was kicked out by the host almost right away, and a few just randomly lost connection before I ever got into the game proper. For the one game that I did manage to join, I helped the host assassinate an enemy lieutenant. Stealth is absolutely required for this particular side mission so I was a little surprised I wasn’t kicked out (I could have easily gone charging into the area on an elephant and alert every guard in a five-mile radius). We managed to quietly dispatch all of the problematic guards in the area, moving in from opposite sides of the camp. With the sentries gone, he made his way around to where the lieutenant was hanging out while I continued dealing with the guards. Neither one of us spoke directly through all of this, we just followed one another’s lead. With the lieutenant dispatched in a great show of cooperation, I figured we’d move on to something else. Sadly, my only reward was getting sent back to my game.
What’s missing from Far Cry 4’s co-op mode is a sense of purpose and players. Fun aside, there’s no real reason to have another player there. The second player doesn’t get much out of their time in another player’s game that they couldn’t get in their own, and the main player can’t progress in the main campaign while the second player is there. The whole chaotic fun aspect is great but it would be better with at least a couple more people tossed into the mix to make it more of a “party” than a little hangout. Not to mention the looming threat of being kicked back to the main menu if there are any connection issues between the two players. It’s not that the co-op is bad, it just feels like a partial implementation of a bigger idea.
Far Cry 4 feels like the next step in the FPS genre for creating worlds that have depth to them; not only in the characters with whom you interact, but the environment itself. Wherever you go in Kyrat there’s a sense of history and purpose. That shrine was built there by someone or a group of people at some point, and people are still at that shrine today. It’s a little touch but it’s enough to make a game that could have been “just another…” stand out on its own. While that same sense of wonder doesn’t quite extend to the co-op mode, charging into an enemy base on the backs of a couple of elephants is a pretty amazing experience in its own right (all hail Babar, king of cooperative destruction!) It’s just too bad it’s not always like that.
While the single player campaign has the look and feel of a “next-gen” experience, the co-op feels like it’s still stuck in 2009.

How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer & How Many Players Can Join in Far Cry New Dawn
Co-op has been a big part of the last few Far Cry games, and it is once again in New Dawn as you get to cause havoc in Hope County for a second time. Here’s everything you need to know about how to play co-op multiplayer and how many players can join in Far Cry New Dawn.
How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer
Much like the previous few games, it’s easy to jump in to co-op multiplayer in Far Cry New Dawn, and you can have a friend join you in anything you want to do, from simple exploration to the main story missions.
Once you’re in Far Cry New Dawn and exploring the open world, to invite a friend you first need to bring up the main menu by pressing Options/Menu, then scroll to the Online option.
Once you’re there, select the Invite Friends option, which will pull up a full list of your friends. You can then select the name of the friend you want to join your game, which will send an invite over to them.
It’s then just a case of waiting for them to accept it. Once they do, their character will be brought into your world, and you’ll be able to head out on missions together.
How Many People Can Play in Far Cry New Dawn Co-Op?
Do note that you’re not able to invite multiple friends at a time. Co-op multiplayer in Ubisoft’s new game is for two players only, so once one friend has joined you, that’s it.
That’s everything you need to know about how to play co-op multiplayer and how many players can join in Far Cry New Dawn. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our Far Cry New Dawn wiki guide.

GAME INFOEverything you need to know about Far Cry® 4 GameplayWelcome to Kyrat
In Far Cry 4, players find themselves in Kyrat, a breathtaking, perilous, and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king. Using a vast array of weapons, vehicles, and animals, players will write their own story across an exotic open world landscape.
Playground
In Far Cry 4 the Kyrat experience takes many forms and allows you to explore an incredible systemic world where every second is a story, whether delving into adventure and intrigue in single-player, taking on enemies and outposts in drop-in / drop-out co-op or competing with other players in PvP.
Single Story Player Hidden in the towering Himalayas lies Kyrat, a country steeped in tradition and violence. You are Ajay Ghale. Traveling to Kyrat to fulfill your mother's dying wish, you find yourself caught up in a civil war to overthrow the oppressive regime of dictator Pagan Min. Explore and navigate this vast open world, where danger and unpredictability lurk around every corner. Here, every decision counts, and every second is a story. Welcome to Kyrat.
New Drop-In / Drop-Out Cooperative (Co-op) Play Not every journey should be taken alone. Far Cry® 4 delivers the most expansive Far Cry experience ever, with integrated drop-in/drop-out open world co-op play. Bring a friend to Kyrat and experience scouting from above in a gyrocopter or hunting on the back of a six-ton elephant. You'll now be able to discover and explore the massive, living world of Kyrat together, where every second is a story. Characters
Meet the intriguing personalities you'll encounter in Far Cry® 4's Kyrat.
Pagan Min The charismatic ruler of Kyrat is as ruthless as he is charming. The Hong Kong native came into Kyrat with his own army and took control during an unstable period in Kyrat's history. The self-appointed king rules as a violent dictator, installing deranged governors to exploit the people and land resources for his personal gain. Pagan Min is obsessed with self-image and with the past
Ajay Ghale Ajay was born in Kyrat, but his mother took him to the United States when he was very young. He grew up knowing little about his place of birth as his mother, Ishwari, rarely spoke of it. Now Ajay has to return to Kyrat to fulfill his mother's dying wish: Take me back to Lakshmana. Animals
While out in the wild, you'll cross paths with a wide variety of animals, both exotic and deadly. They can be useful resources or unforgiving enemies - it all depends on your approach.
Vehicles
A vast expanse of hills and valleys bordered by the Himalayan peaks, Kyrat's varied landscape and biomes mean getting around isn't always as simple as jumping into a car or tuk-tuk. Going up will be more important than ever. In rough terrain, you might need to climb aboard a powerful elephant, or take to the skies with a gyrocopter, jump from it, and wingsuit down to any hard-to-reach point.
Weapons
From the traditional kukri blade to the high-impact mortar, every weapon in Far Cry® 4 lets you determine your own approach. Check out some of the arsenal you'll have at your disposal.

Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Great to look at the trailer of the game.
Reminds me of far cry 3.
Cons: Fails to load with a 360 controller plugged in. I am still stuck on a mission that characters fail to drop their weapons. They did the first couple times I played it, but not now. Terribly Buggy, uPlay sucks, it is really unplayable at this point. I have the latest updates to date (december 28th) and none of my issues have been fixed. I guess I'll have to re download the entire game.. many gigs..
Overall Review: my rig is a 4.0ghz quad core, a 2gb radeon 6970 graphics card, 8gb of ddr3 1600 ram. This game in theory is great on high.. but not. :D :P

Pros: Familiar gameplay, great graphics, user drive storyline.
For Far cry veterans, the gyrocopter is a huge addition to the game.
Cons: Familiar gameplay. I swore when I finished climbing the last tower in the game I would never do that again. Guess what. I am.
Needs a fairly current system. Ran great with 16gb ram on a EVGA GTX 660 FTW. 2011-v3 processor.
Overall Review: I'm only into the game for a few hours, but for those you you who can't wait for a bundle deal, you need some info before dropping $60 on the gotta have it now reasoning.
It's winter, you can't be outside quite as much. go for it. I typically have had to wait a few months to play a hot new/old game. This time I grabbed a bundle deal that was too good to turn down. Uplay installed with no problems on win7/64 and I have actually never had a drm problem with uplay, and I also run steam for other games. The game mechanics are good, graphics awesome, soundtrack amazing. Can't say much for that copy of a disk utility I bought last week..
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Better graphics.
Cons: The game just feels no different than FarCry 3 with different missions. Basically the exact same, sorry I bought the game to be honest, its far too easy.
Overall Review: FarCry 2 is still the best int he series.

Nice Far Cry 3 DLC.. not really, it's a great game12/7/2014 11:03:45 AM
Pros: Jokes aside, it is a fantastic game. Shares a LOT with Far Cry 3 and that' s="" a="" very="" good="" thing.="" think="" about="" far="" cry="" 3="" with="" slightly="" better="" graphics,="" different="" story="" and="" location.="">
You can interact more with animals, as in ride an elephant. You are looking at maybe more than 30 hrs of game play if you just play the campaign and get all collectibles. The story is just OK, but could be a lot worse. I liked it.
Cons: Some stutter and no Dolby Live (5.1) support. The stutter thing most probably will be fixed with a patch, but I doubt they will add Dolby Live support (license and stuff savings). You can still play it in Dolby 2.1 or in 5.1/7.1 with DTS, analog board I/O or via HDMI.
Story wise.. I would have liked a more rewarding ending like Far Cry 3. Don't get me wrong, it is a good ending.
Overall Review: Runs above 80 FPS on average in my system in ultra settings @1080p.
